Samsung QN70F
The QN70F is the entry-level model in Samsung's Neo QLED lineup, making it the brand's most affordable device with Mini-LED backlighting. netzwelt scores it 1.8 and measures 866 nits, while SATVISION reports scores of 1.6 with 90.3 percent. At its market launch in spring 2025, the recommended price was 1299 euros for 55 inches – today, the device can be purchased for around 600 euros.
Classification and Target Audience
The QN70F is designed for bright rooms and for watching sports, series, and gaming. Those who primarily watch movies in a darkened room in the evening can get better contrast for the same money – the Mini-LED advantage is largely diminished here.
Picture and Panel
The 866 nits are very good for this price range and are sufficient for visible HDR. The catch lies in the number of zones: Samsung only equips it with around 20 dimming zones. For comparison, the cheaper Sharp JP7265E works with 192 zones. The contrast gain over a standard LCD is therefore modest, with netzwelt noting only moderate improvements. The VA panel delivers deep blacks when viewed head-on but quickly loses color when viewed from the side.
Gaming and Connections
- 4 HDMI ports, all with HDMI 2.1
- 4K up to 144 Hz
- VRR and ALLM
- 2 USB ports, triple tuner, CI+
For the current generation of consoles, this is a complete set of features – very few devices in this price range offer four fast ports.
Sound and Operating System
The sound quality lags behind the picture; a soundbar should be considered for movie nights. Tizen with One UI runs smoothly and includes all major streaming services. However, Samsung displays advertisements on the home screen, and the growing number of AI features makes navigation rather confusing.
What Is Missing
Samsung does not support Dolby Vision – the QN70F only handles HDR10+ and HLG. AirPlay 2 is also missing, impacting Apple users. There is no built-in subwoofer.
Conclusion and Price-Performance Ratio
Around 600 euros for 55 inches (as of August 2026), energy efficiency class E in SDR operation and G in HDR operation. At a depth of 2.5 centimeters, it is also unusually slim. The QN70F is the television for bright living rooms and for gamers who need four full HDMI 2.1 ports. Those seeking contrast will find it in the Sharp or the Hisense U7Q Pro at a similar price in better form.
