Xiaomi Pad 7

The Xiaomi Pad 7 (globally released in early 2025) has earned its reputation as the absolute price-performance king in the mid-range tablet market by April 2026. Xiaomi has shamelessly drawn inspiration from the iPad in its design – and that is a huge advantage. With the extremely sharp 144 Hz display in the brilliant 3:2 format, an impressively powerful speaker setup, and the lightning-fast Snapdragon processor, the Pad 7 often effortlessly outperforms comparably priced competitors. If you can forgo the deep blacks of an OLED panel and are simply looking for the best Android tablet for around 350 euros, you can't go wrong with this device.

Classification and Target Audience

The Xiaomi Pad 7 is aimed at budget-conscious students, binge-watchers, and buyers looking for a device that feels like a flagship but costs only half as much. In the current market (April 2026), it dominates the mid-range and is the fiercest competitor to the Apple iPad (10th Gen) or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Those seeking even more raw power for high-end gaming should opt for the slightly more expensive sibling model, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro (with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3), but for 95% of users, the standard model is more than sufficient.

Display and Build

The design screams premium – and at a fraction of the price:

  • Build: The tablet is housed in a flawless, angular aluminum unibody. At just 6.18 millimeters thick and exactly 500 grams in weight, it is pleasantly lightweight and easy to hold even while reading on the couch.
  • Display: The 11.2-inch IPS-LCD display (with an extremely high 3.2K resolution) is a dream. It runs buttery smooth at 144 Hz, easily outperforming the standard iPad. An important factor is the 3:2 aspect ratio: This format is significantly taller than classic widescreen tablets and is phenomenal for web browsing, word processing, and PDFs. The small catch: When watching movies in 16:9 format, you will see visible black bars at the top and bottom.

Performance and Hardware

Under the hood, modern and, above all, highly efficient technology is at work:

  • Processor: The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 delivers excellent performance in combination with 8 GB of RAM. The user interface flies across the screen, demanding multitasking, and most current 3D games run completely smoothly.
  • Battery & Audio: The 8,850 mAh battery benefits from the efficient chip and easily lasts users through 1 to 2 days of intensive use. It charges quickly at up to 45 watts (note: a power adapter is often not included with European models). A hidden highlight is the four speakers, which produce unexpectedly full and loud sound for this price range.

Productivity and Accessories

The pure couch tablet can quickly be transformed into a small workspace:

  • Accessories: Xiaomi offers (sold separately) the excellent Focus Keyboard and Focus Pen. The stylus works with extremely low latency and is a joy to use for drawing or writing digital notes thanks to its excellent palm rejection.
  • Cameras: For video calls, there is an 8-megapixel camera on the front that delivers solid results. However, you have to forgo a fingerprint sensor here (unlike the Pro model); unlocking is done via facial recognition (2D) or PIN.

Software Status

The Xiaomi Pad 7 launched with HyperOS 2.0 (based on Android 15). Xiaomi's user interface is heavily inspired by Apple's iPadOS, making the transition for Apple users very easy. Floating windows and split-screen functions are excellently implemented. As it is a global model, all Google services (including the Play Store) are, of course, fully integrated and usable out of the box.

Conclusion and Price-Performance Ratio

With an original MSRP of around 399 € (for the 128 GB model), the Xiaomi Pad 7 can often be found in April 2026 in the open market for an extremely attractive 320 € to 350 €. For this money, you get an incredibly smooth 144 Hz display, great sound, and build quality that actually belongs in a much higher price league. It is simply one of the best and most sensible all-round tablets you can currently buy for Android money.
